About Doniree
I’m not a food critic; I’m a food LOVER.
Welcome to Nomadic Foodie! I’m Doniree; I’ll be your host here. But first, a few things you should know about me:
I’m not a food critic; I’m a food LOVER.
I have no culinary training or professional experience beyond my experimental cooking in my own kitchen, and the fact that I simply love to eat and make deliciousness a priority in my life.
But — I LOVE food. I love exploring new places, tasting the local fare, trying new and original and unusual things as much as classic comfort food.
I’m also a travel addict and wannabe nomad, and have found myself jet-setting all over the place this past year with no real intentions to stop anytime soon.
I’m a recent Minneapolis expat now taking up residence in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. A lot of my food and wine exploration happens in this delicious city, and it’s fun to see it all through the eyes of someone new. You can learn more about the rest of my life and get a little further inside my head at my personal blog, aptly named Doniree.com. (Go ahead, check it out! I’ll wait.)
This blog is my collection of stories (more so than reviews) of the places I travel and the foods and restaurants I sample. It’s about exploring new places and making note of the people and food and wine I meet along the way.
Bon appetite!

Hi Doniree,
I’ve been following you on twitter since your great article on Mateo. I live in Boulder but am down in the San Luis Valley ((Alamosa) of Colorado for a few days on vacation. Why you may ask ( this in not the hotbed of vacation spots especially this time of year)? My answer is the Great Sand Dunes (since you are new to CO you need to come see them) and Sand Hill Cranes (tens of thousand of these fantastic birds migraste through here this time of the year). Anyway I was pleasantly surprised eating at two local restaurants (Bistro Rialto & San Luis Valley Brewery) the last two evenings and would be happy to post a summary like. PS I am a food, wine and beer addict as well! You need to have margs on the roof deck ar the Rio Grande in Boulder or Steamboat Springs on a warm spring/summer day!
