Last summer, Rachel came to visit me in Minnesota over the weekend of the Minnesota State Fair. While she took some AMAZING photos while she was here, she was kind enough to let me play with her Canon Rebel XT while we went out to eat so I could play Food Blogger, having just launched this little site here.

Seven months later? I just bought my own Canon Rebel (XS, not XT) and can not WAIT to shoot some actually decent food photos. My little point-and-shoot just wasn’t cutting it. I know some of you can take awesome P&S pictures, but me? Nope, and especially not of food.

So… I’ve always wanted to lightly foray into food photography and within the next couple of weeks? ACTUALLY WILL.

This comes just in time for my visit from my parents, upcoming trip to Vegas, and later in the year trips that include some FINALLY overseas travel (stay tuned for more on that). Meanwhile – I have a couple more guest posts lined up from some of my friends across the country who are going to introduce you (and me!) to they’re fine fare in their own towns.

Next up? On Friday, we meet Virginia Beach, Virginia thanks to my friend that’s practically family – miss Alex Proaps. You know her as @pixie658 and she blogs here at The Tao of Grad School. Check her out now, and stay tuned for her foodie files on Friday !

If there’s anything that can make me completely lose track of time and space, it’s getting caught up in blog-hacking particularly within the Thesis framework (that both this blog and my personal blog are built on). Call me a total geek girl, but it’s so easy to lose myself in Thesis hooks and figuring out how not to break .php code, when I don’t know the first thing about it anyway.

That being said, that’s basically what I did last night with the help of Jenn, Matt, Chris, and Jamie Varon via Jenn – and this here blog redesign is the result. There are still tweaks I’m working on, but the framework is up and running and I’m ready to really blow this place out.

Keeping the Nomad in NomadicFoodie

So far, I’m not traveling this year nearly as much as I did last year (but you never know, it’s early…), so my focus has largely been on discovering the delicious foodie finds here in my new hometown of Boulder, Colorado. It’s all new to me – the places and this city itself – but to keep things nomadic and diversified here on the food blog, I’m turning to other experts on other cities to help me explore deliciousness from all over.

That includes you.

I’d love your take on your hometown or your favorite vacation spot, or really anything travel/foodie related that you’d like to share. Let me know if you’d like to guest post here, and I’ll get you all set up and scheduled!

First Up – Bay Area

The first guest post this week comes from Jeremy Orr from San Francisco, and will go up on Wednesday. After that? You’ll see a healthy smattering here of my Colorado explorations and Test Kitchen experiments, as well as YOUR nods and recommendations elsewhere.

Interested? Let’s chat! Leave a comment with your city/idea (or send me an email), and we’ll get moving in no time.

Allez cuisine, bon apetite, etc., etc.,

~ Doniree, The Nomadic Foodie
